Spectrum Brushes

I have been drooling over these brushes ever since I laid my eyes on them. They are just gorgeous!
I promised myself that I would wait for the sets to come back in stock however when I seen that they had a 50% off sale on I had to get some and try them out.

The first thing that attracts me to these vegan and cruelty free brushes are the blue and purple bristles with the beautiful pink handle.

I also purchased the Pom Poms Ready Set which are candy pink and come with a case in which I can store them all in.

On first use the brushes are extremely soft and so don't apply the make up as well as they should so I would suggest cleaning the brushes before you use them at all.
I have never been one to clean my brushes that frequently however the are just so pretty that I feel bad for getting them dirty so I have been cleaning these brushes every few days. If I could clean them everyday, I would!

They remind me of mermaids and I think that's what attracts most people. I am so desperate for the Glam Clam and I check the website daily to see what it will be back in stock as I know I'll have to be fast.

Anyway into the brushes I got... As I said I purchased the Pom Poms Ready set. This consists of 4 brushes and a storage case with a massive Pom Pom attached to it( how cute!) the brushes included are

A Flat Top Buffer Brush for applying powder or liquid foundation - this is absolutely my favourite brush! I had never used one of these brushes until now and I just love it! Before I had always used a Foundation brush to apy my foundation and the brush would deform and and the foundation would clunk inside it. The brush however applies it so naturally and beautifully to the skin, giving a perfectly even layer with the flat top, so much so that it hardly feel like you are wearing any. The soft bristles glide well across the skin so you do not get that rough brush feeling. One thing I would say is clean this brush as much as you possibly can to avoid the bristles sticking together!

A Dome Buffer brush for applying powder or bronzer. When using this brush it feels like you are hardly putting make up on. It's so soft and fluffy. Be careful when picking up powder and bronzer with it due to it being so soft, as a lot of it could just fly away - don't want to waste those perfectly good products!

Angled Blush brush for application of blush( both powder or Creme) - the brush is slightly smaller than the Dome brush and is great for blusher. Due to its size it sweeps evening across the ow of your cheeks. Like the Dome brush be careful with picking up powder ( if that's the type of blush you use). The angled edge makes it easier for application and helps give that shuttle glow to your cheeks.

Small Angled Shader Brush for blending and shading. It can also be used well as an eyeshadow brush. I use this brush more for eyeshadow, then again, I don't do a lot of contouring etc. It is a great blending brush when completing the likes of a smokey look. This brush also works well to blend in your blusher bronzer and highlighter to give a more natural and photo finish look.

I then decided to purchase some individual brushes. Although I was only trying them out before a big order, I went a little overboard and bought 6 to go along with the Pom Pom Ready set, it's fine though right? They were 50% off in my defence!

Best Face Forward Dome Contour Brush- a multi use brush perfect for contouring the eyes and nose. As well as blending the eyes and concealer. I love this brush. I tend to used it mostly on the eyes to apply a more prominent shade. It also belongs in concealer well, as although not flat topped, it's only slightly rounded at the top to leave a lovely smooth finish to your concealer before applying foundation.

Happy Medium, Medium Fluffy Shader - perfect for applying eye shadow. I bought 2 of these as I love a good eye shadow brush! The fluffy- ness of the brush is great for application and picks up eyeshadow well. It's not to big a brush meaning that it fits perfectly in the eye lid for apication.

Draw Mr Pretty Fluffy Eye Pencil - perfect for the smaller details, in the crease of your eye or even underneath the eye. I use this brush for the outer corners of my eye as it is quite small in shape and quite pointy so it works well to apply more precisely in the corners without getting eye shadow everywhere and is perfect for lining the bottoms of your eyes.

No Baggage Oval Concealer Brush - used to apply concealer and a great blending brush also. Great concealer brush, again, due to liquid use, clean thoroughly as often as possible to keep its shape. I find that it works well for under the eyes as the brush it quite flat and so reaches up to the eyes well.

Game, Set and...Dome Setting Brush - used for highlighters, bronzer sand powders. Perfect for the finishing touches to your make up. I like this little brush. It's perfect for tidying up everything and lightly apying powders.

As you can see I did buy quite a few brushes, but I cannot wait to get more. Amazing brushes both to use and to look at.

A Promise To Myself

I recently came across another blogger (sorry, can't remember her name) who posted something quite similar to this and I thought it was a pretty good idea as it can show how you progress throughout the year.
A Promise to Myself is something that I will promise to do and try not to stray away from, then over the next year I will complete updates on my promise and how I am doing.

Mines is to save as much money as I possibly can. To be more responsible with my money. I am currently trying to save up for a trip to Las Vegas to see my cousin get married next year and of course I will want to do quite a bit of shopping whilst I am there! I have also considered saving up for a place of my own recently. I have also had the mindset  that I am only young and don't have many commitments so I can spend how I want and not have to worry too much about saving just yet, however I have decided to make a change.

I am going to properly budget myself and document everything I spend in my trusty little Filofax and make sure I save a good amount by the end of the month. Unfortunately that means no more spending on a lot of makeup etc. I have decided to limit myself and get some new products once every 3 months to keep me going because of course, I can't stop altogether. I do own a beauty blog don't I?

Part 2 of my Promise to myself is to get healthier. By this I mean eating healthier and looking after my skin.
I have tried so many diets. Fasting diets (5:2), Celebrity Slim shake diet, SlimFast.
I lost most of my weight when I went through something upsetting, but I know that is the wrong way to do it. I lost my appetite completely meaning that I couldn't actually stomach my food at all. So I have decided to eat healthily and see where that gets me. This means cutting out soft drinks (never really been a problem for me though), chocolate and biscuits(my weakness) and calorific foods. Drinking LOTS of water, I struggle with this. I am quite bad at drinking at all which ends up in me feeling quite dehydrated quite a lot.

My skin has always been a problem for me, no matter what I try it never clears, which is rather annoying. So I am going to focus on having a routine that I stick to .

Wish me luck guys!

Urban Decay Electric Palette

Recently I went to the Urban Decay section to pick up a Naked Palette on my recent shopping trip, however when I left instead I had the Electric Palette. When I saw it I fell in love. The colours in the palette are so bright and vibrant, just incredible! Eye-catching!

Lately I have decided to buy more 'out there' colours to experiment with and this is the perfect palette to do so. The colours are so pigmented and beautiful.
The swatches are not the best in the light, however you can tell just how well they apply.

I think it's funny that it looks like those paint palettes that you used to use at schools when doing art. that's definitely what this palette reminds me of. The blocks of colour that you used to choose from to create a masterpiece in school.
I also love the little purple brush, how cute is it? I don't want to ruin it!
So far, I have experimented with the silver when I created a smokey eye for the recent concert I went to and also the purples. I can't wait to try out the rest of them! Bro many different looks to experiment with!!

Make Up Revolution review

I have recently read a lot about people raving over the Make Up Revolution Palettes. I had never really considered this brand until now.
I bought myself the mermaids vs Unicorn palette to try as I loved the colour combinations within it.
Some of the shades apply very pigmented which look lovely!

The best part about it was that the palette was only £4 from Superstug!

Great palette and the colours are great. My favourite definitely has to be the blue (5th colour in on palette) and that lovely dark pink.
All shades are shimmery and perfect for an edge on a smokey eye.

Great palette for a great price!

Benefit Creaseless Creme Eye Shadow

Don't usually use a lot of Benefit products but seen this and knew I had to get it! This Benefit creaseless Creme eye shadow applies beautifully and gives a full and radiant shimmer to your eyes. The Creme texture also helps it last a lot longer on the eyes.
The packaging is also gorgeous! When I first opened it I got a bit of a fright as the glass top is where the eye Creme is stored.

The shade I picked up was My Two Cents. A gorgeous copper like shade with a lively shimmer effect.
This was the first time I had used a Creme eye shadow and I will definitely be purchasing more of these Benefit creaseless Creme eyeshadows.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette review

You know when you find that product and you just think...wow. What haven't I tried this before? Well this is it for me. The Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette from Too Faced.
As soon as I laid my eyes on it I just knew. I have been experimenting quite a lot recently with different eye look and this is perfect.

The palette consists of 16 amazing colours to help create the most amazing look. My personal favourites are Blueberry Swirl, Cocoa Chilli and Caramel.
The palette consists of the following colours

(Left to right-row1)
Liquorice
Vanilla Creme
Nougat
Truffled
Hot Fudge

(Left to right- row 2)
Cocoa Chilli
Pink Sugar
Puddin
Blueberry Swirl
Peanut Butter
Frosting

(Left to right -row 3)
Rum Raisin
Mousse
Caramel
Bon Bon
Butter Pecan

(Swatches not the best, some colours not included as too light and could not be seen) colours work better when applied on top of eyeshadow primer.

I paid £38 in debenhams for this palette. It's retailed as £34 on the Too Faced website.

The BEST thing about this palette is that IT SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE!!! Can everyone just take a minute to think about how awesome that it......I could just sit and smell it all day! It smells heavenly!
Obviously this palette is the second in the range of the chocolate bar palettes, however I feel that the semi sweet has warmer tones which I love! They both smell as amazing as each other though! The palette contains a mixture of both matte and shimmer shades

LOVE LIVE LOVE this palette!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara review

I always find that it's quite difficult to find the perfect mascara no matter how long, short or thick your lashes are. I am quite lucky in that I have quite long lashes and so when I choose a mascara it is more about thickness and just emphasising the length slightly.
I had heard about the Better than sex mascara. Have anyone you seen the advert for it?? The couple therapy! It's great!
To me it seemed like a great mascara to give you that false lash effect which is what I was looking for. I can't apply false lashes to save myself so I need the mascara to create the look for me!
The formula contains collagen which helps to give a full lash effect.
When applying it can seem a little clumpy as first but if you stretch your lashes and use the wand in a zig zag motion the mascara applies perfectly.
I only need one coat for my lashes to create the effect I love. Long full lashes.
However you can use 2 or 3 depending on how you like it.
The brush is one I am not so keen on and when I first opened up the bottle I was a little wary but it works well to create a fullness. Just be careful when taking it in and out of the bottle and it can clump the mascara at the top. It's such a pretty bottle that I wouldn't want to ruin!
My bottom lashes are something I struggle with, although quite long I find it hard to get a noticeable coverage on the lower lash and it can end up smudging a lot of the time. Well.. I have found a solution. The lower lashes look as great as the top ones with this mascara.
Great mascara Too Faced Cosmetics!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation review

I have read so many raving reviews on the new foundation from Too Faced called Born This Way so I knew that I had to try it out.
I recently decided to only wear foundation on occasions as I found that concealer worked well for me as a base. With that being said I wanted a new foundation to give me a good coverage.
The Born This Way foundation is just Wow! The finish on it is so radiant and natural. What I love the most though is that it feels so incredibly light in the skin. I don't know about all of you but I can't stand a heavy caked on dewy foundation.
Born This Way is said to have undetectable medium to full coverage that hides imperfections perfectly. The foundation is also oil free. For someone like me who used to be, and still can be from time to time, prone to oily skin this is perfect. My favourite part about the product is that it contains coconut water to hydrate by replenishing the moisture in your skin - this helps to create a radiance on the skin. It is also infused with Alphine Rose to give the face a hint of brightness.
The foundation currently comes in 18 different colours to choose from and have 6 more coming out soon so there is definitely a shade for pretty much all skin tones. I personally went for the colour Nude and it matches my skin perfectly. This colour is light with neutral to pink undertones. My skin has quite a bit of redness to it around the nose, chin and forehead. This foundation covers the redness completely.
This foundation is also meant to be long lasting and provide great coverage throughout pretty much a whole day. Whilst wearing it I felt that it stayed on quite well, I had to blot and powder maybe 2 or 3 times during the day where I had a little shine on the forehead and nose but it lasted really well. I'm really impressed.
I usually use a brush to blend my foundation and have yet to try a beauty blender with it but the way it blends is great, it leaves the skin looking flawless, as if it's natural that you don't have a single blemish on your face.
I absolutely adore this foundation. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try it.
I bought it from Debenhams as that is the only place that sells it in the UK for £29. It sells online for £27.

What I am about to show you is the difference between my natural face (as in no makeup face) and a fully covered face with the Born This Way foundation.

Excuse the light in the first picture but even without it, my skin is rather red and oily. The picture in the middle has only foundation straight after application and the final picture is a full face of make up. As you can see the finish is flawless and even where my cheeks crease at the bottom when I smile, the foundation does not break or split.
I will definitely be purchasing this foundation for a long time.

Glasgow Haul Part 2

As mentioned in my previous post, I also went into a couple of shops to get some items other than make up.

New Look
I haven't really been to New Look recently but since I found a gift card in my purse I thought I might as well see what I could pick up.
Here is what I bought...

I love these new Non Sleeve Blazers (not really sure what they are officially called) they are really comfortable and great for casual use or you can jazz them up a little and wear to go out for dinner. £23 each. There are also a wide range of colours available just now. I liked the creamy beige one and the khaki one as they could be styled with many different outfits.
In the bottom picture my purchase from New Look were the tan flats. Very comfortable.

Primark
I always think that sometime you go into Primark and you can't find a thing and sometimes you find loads. Well this time I going LOTS! When I go to Primark I tend to try and stock up on tshirts etc and that exactly what I done.
£2.50 each- bargain!
£6
£6
£4 each so obviously I bought 3!

Make up ridges for £1 each- great for eye shadow extra on bright colours- as in doesn't matter if they ruin quickly!
Trusty raincoat for £9!
