Christmas Family Traditions

8 days until Christmas now and I have been thinking about the festivities involved in Christmas Day and traditions every family has.
Everyone has those festive family traditions that you cannot deviate from and they make Christmas all that more exciting around this period.

Personally I love the traditions that I have with my family and still to this day even with me and my brother being older we always make sure we keep to them every year to keep the spirit up and there isn't always a lot to do once we get older. No as many things to open, no toys to play with etc...

On Christmas Eve we spend all day (nowadays after we finish work!) watching Christmas Films. The films that we must watch are Elf, The Grinch, Love Actually and Jingle All The Way. These are our altime favourite Christmas films are. We do not watch these films before Christmas Eve. We also try to fit in watching Four Christmas's, Arthur Christmas and the Holiday, however it doesn't matter if these are watched beforehand. My family have never really been into the National Lampoons or Home Alone etc so we give those films a miss.

On Christmas Day we wake up really early, usually around 6am and myself and my brother go into one room and wait until my mum and dad are up as they have to be the first ones to go down the stairs. My mum is usually already up so we don't always have to wait long and she gets really excited at Christmas and can't sleep! We then make a cup of tea when we go downstairs before getting to open our presents. We also tend to put on a music channel on the telly with Christmas music on to set the mood.

For the rest of the day we just relax and spend time together all day enjoying each others company just the four of us.

What's traditions do you have with your family?

Favourite Christmas Movies

You can never go wrong with a good Christmas movie I think, to get you in the festive spirit.  I have put together a list of my favourite Christmas movies .
Most of these i do not watch until Christmas Eve which a tradition in my house.

ELF

This is my all time FAVOURITE Christmas film. It is fun, festive and silly. Will Ferrel is amazing in this film and it has so many memorable moments and phrases, which for me is why it is my all time favourite.

STORYLINE
Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa's sack and ended up at the North Pole. Later, as an adult human who happened to be raised by elves, Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs. Hobbs, on Santa's naughty list for being a heartless jerk, had no idea that Buddy was even born. Buddy, meanwhile, experiences the delights of New York City (and human culture) as only an elf can. When Walter's relationship with Buddy interferes with his job, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities.(taken from IMDB)

"Cotton-headed ninnymuggins"

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear"

"I just like to smile. Smiling's my favourite"

"SANTA! OH MY GOD! SANTA'S COMING! I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!"

" Buddy the Elf, what's your favourite colour?"

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

This is such a good film. Not my favourite but definitely in my top 10 films.

STORYLINE
Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Whos, an almost mutated sort of munchkinlike people. All the Whos love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. The Grinch is a nasty creature that hates Christmas, and plots to steal it away from the Whos which he equally abhors. Yet a small child, Cindy Lou Who, decides to try befriend the Grinch.(taken from IMDB)

Love Actually

I love this film! The fact that there are so many different storylines that all somehow link together all the characters.

STORYLINE
The characters are falling in love, falling out of love, some are with right people, some are with the wrong people, some are looking to have an affair, some are in the period of mourning; a capsule summary of reality. Love begins and love ends. They flirt a lot. They are all flirting with love. At all ages and social levels, love is the theme. Romantic love and brotherly love is the hotchpotch through out the movie. Most of the movie is filmed in London, during Christmas and the characters all ended up at Heathrow airport a very uplifting note.(taken from IMDB)

Jingle All The Way

An oldie but goodie!

STORYLINE
Meet Howard Langston, a salesman for a mattress company is constantly busy at his job, and he also constantly disappoints his son, after he misses his son's karate exposition, he tries hard to come up with a way to make it up to him, this is when his son tells Howard that he wants for Christmas is an action figure of his son's television hero, Turbo Man. Unfortunately for Howard, it is Christmas Eve, and every store is sold out of Turbo Man figures, now Howard must travel all over town and compete with everybody else including a mail man named Myron to find a Turbo Man action figure, and to make it to the Wintertainment parade which will feature Turbo Man. Pixi Beauty by Pedra

After hearing such good reviews about this brand, I recently purchased a few bits from Pixi Beauty. It is so pretty. The colour theme for the collection is a sort of mint green and the packaging for everything is gorgeous.
I was so so so happy when i found Pixi in a Marks and Spencers near me and i had to see what i could get my hands on,

In the end i opted for three things, one piece of make up, a moisturiser and a brush, so essentially i went for a tool, make up and skincare to try out a variety of the range.

Quick Fix Powder

Love this! It leaves a beautiful matte powder finish and is a great size for travelling. Unlike most loose powders, this comes with a buffer attached on top. All you have to do is, when first opening, unscrew the powder and take away the cap underneath the buffer . Screw back on and then tap on the back of your hand and you will start to see powder come out. When tapping on the face, it can sometime leave residue white marks but just wipe those away with the buffer and you are good to go!

Foundation Buffer Brush

Wow! This brush is amazing for applying matte foundation. I don't like it so much for others though as I prefer a softer brush. The brush is very compact and sturdy. Meaning that the bristles will not flare.

Glowtion Moisturiser

I decided to purchase this as I wanted a moisturiser to put on under foundation to brighten up my skin a little for those days when you wake up and your skin is a little on the dull looking side. Not seen much of a change yet though but I am going to persevere and see if I can see a difference.

Having seen so many amazing reviews about Freedom Make Up I decided to give some products a try and with my obsession with lipsticks, I just had to pick up some of their 5 piece lipstick collections. I ended up picking up 3, for £15! Thats 15 lipsticks!

I only got 3 out of the possible 6 collection but would love to get the remaining three. Bare Nudes, Pro Collection and Pro Red Collection.

Recent Haul

Went out with my friend for a drink and catch up and ended up buying a bunch of makeup goodies.
My intention was to go to Harvey Nichols and get a free MAC lipstick with my Back To MAC empty containers.

I ended up leaving Harvey Nichols with a MAC lipstick, highlighter brush and the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder. We then decided to go to boots to look at the Smashbox primers. I already had a  deluxe primer so decided to wait before getting a new one and ended up getting the Christmas edition 5 Smashbox lip glosses. Then venture over to Bare Minerals and how can anyone resist the Christmas special Bare Minerals Original Deluxe Mineral Veil Powder. After saying goodbye to my friend and having to wait to get picked up I thought, why not go to Urban Decay to see what they had. I walked out with a Naked Concealer and the all nighter Setting Spray.

I have also added a few others bits that i picked up along the way from Boots and Superdrug over the past couple of weeks. My reviews on these will be quite short as i am focusing more on the high end haul at the beginning.

So after purchasing all of this, I am pretty much poor for the rest of the month.

So I decided to go out of my comfort zone and go for a very out there, dark colour. When this colour was first released I was desperate to try it.
It's a dark shimmery Blue colour which is absolutely gorgeous. And rather daring to wear.

I am also happy to say that this is number 21 in my MAC lipstick collection!

Wow!! No wonder everyone raves about this powder! It's amazing! It gives the most lovely finish to your makeup. I have never been one to use loose powder but I have decided to give it a go and I am loving it.

How can anytime walk past this and not purchase it. The packaging is so incredibly pretty and the pot is HUGE! I have a feeling this will last me a very very long time!
The lid is gold with a beautiful pattern and it is a glass tub. The packaging also comes with a little key as it looks like a trinket.

This powder leaves such a smooth and finish. Although it is lot translucent it still lightened your makeup slightly and sits beautifully on the skin.

I have heard so many amazing reviews about this concealer and that the coverage is incredible so I decided to try it. It's brilliant. So good that I have been using concealer with no foundation as the coverage is so good.

I have tried a couple of setting sprays now and have yet to find one I love, until I got this one. It actually works! I only got the travel size to try out but will definitely be getting the full size one! It sets your makeup perfectly and you hardly have to powder throughout the day.

Found this gift set that I could not resist. These lip glosses are smaller than the full size but not quite the size of the samples in the starter kits. 5 lovely colours.

- Superstar
- Coraline
- Orchid
- Pout
- Disco Rose

Loreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte Foundation

I really wish I had purchased this foundation sooner, it's a great foundation if you like a matte finish. I tend to use it mainly for work. It gives you a pretty much flawless finish once applied and looks lovely.

Loreal Mattifying Base Primer

Great primer to go along with the infallible foundation, gives a lovely smooth base for the foundation to apply and helps to cover up my pores.

Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer and Highlighter

Wow! The coverage from this concealer is mad! It is quite quick though and a little bit goes a long way!

Loreal Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen

This product is good for highlighting using concealer but I wouldn't say it is anything special. There are definitely other concealers out there that are much better.

MaxFactor Colour Elixir Lip Liner

- red rush
- pink princess
- mauve moment
These lip liners are so creamy and apply brilliantly. The colours are also lovely and I want more of these definitely!

GOSH Velvet Touch Lip Liner in Nougat  Crisp

Lovely nude colour that I picked up. Creamy and pigmented.
